What Does a
Birth Doula Do?

A birth doula is a trained professional who provides continuous support during pregnancy and labor. My role is to help you feel prepared, advocate for your preferences, and stay grounded during one of the most important experiences of your life.

Doulas support families by providing:

✔ Emotional reassurance and encouragement

✔ Physical comfort measures during labor

✔ Evidence-based education about pregnancy and birth

✔ Guidance with birth planning and preferences

Continuous support during labor and delivery

✔ Support for partners so they can be fully present

Studies show that doula-supported births are associated with higher satisfaction and improved birth outcomes.

But beyond statistics, doula care simply means you’re never alone in your experience.

Postpartum
Follow-Up

Support doesn’t end once your baby arrives. The early postpartum weeks—often called the “fourth trimester”—are a time of recovery, adjustment, and bonding.

My postpartum follow-up care is designed to help you feel supported as you transition into life with your newborn. During this time, I provide practical help, emotional support, and guidance so you can focus on healing and connecting with your baby.

Postpartum support may include:

  • Birth story processing and emotional support

  • Newborn care guidance

  • Postpartum recovery support

  • Light household support

  • Meal preparation and nourishment

  • Time to rest and recover – Caring for your baby while you shower, nap, or take a moment to recharge

  • Partner support – Helping partners feel confident in supporting your recovery

  • Ongoing guidance and resources – Answering questions and connecting you with trusted local resources if additional support is needed

The postpartum period can be beautiful, overwhelming, and transformative all at once. My goal is to ensure you feel cared for, informed, and supported as your family grows.
